Capacity Building Programme

 Since 2014, National Cancer Awareness Day in India has been observed on November 7 to create awareness among people about early detection, prevention, and proper treatment and medication of this deadly disease. It also urges for an immediate lifestyle change.

For the Capacity Building Programme proposed by the University of Kerala for the B.Ed. Course, we selected the same day to be observed and conducted an awareness programme named as "HOPE. The objective of this programme was to acquaint with the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute a function successfully, provide proper awareness about cancer, and remove any misconceptions about this disease among the audience. 

This programme was inaugurated by Shri. Gopalakrishna Pillai (Assistant Professor in Physical Education) by lighting the lamp. He also shared his experience of overcoming this disease. Smt. Smitha T.S. and Dr.Durga Lekshmi G.S. (Assistant Professor in Perspectives in Education) also attended the inaugural session.  

This programme included an awareness class, an exhibition of awareness posters, a Rally of student-teachers guided by the college Principal, a video presentation about the causes and types of cancer, and cultural activities, including a mime, dance, and skit. Students of Government Higher Secondary School, Kulakkada were also invited to this programme.
